Why this is different

I have to live with my own advice.

Most people advising on HubSpot are advising on setups they'll never have to live with again, whereas I spend my working week inside one that has to bring in real customers, with a sales team looking at the reports and asking me why the numbers moved.

That changes what I end up recommending, because I've had the tidy plan that looked convincing in a workshop and then fell apart quietly in month two. What you get is the version that survived contact with a real sales team.

If the answer is "you don't need me"

I'll tell you on the first call and I won't invoice you for it, because a fair few of these turn out to be a settings change and twenty minutes of somebody's time, and I'd rather say that than sell you a day you didn't need.

What people use it for

Six things that come up again and again.

You don't have to pick from this list. It's just where most sessions end up.

Data

A proper look at your setup

A structured walk through the whole thing: your data, your stages, what's automated and what your reports are actually measuring. You get a written list of what's wrong, ranked by what it's costing you.

Usually a full day
Data

Getting your data straight

Deciding what you record, where it lives and how it connects — before you build anything on top of it. Far cheaper to sort now than to unpick after two years of records.

Half or full day
Process

Deciding what counts as a lead

Definitions sales will actually agree to, and a way of ranking leads based on what really precedes a sale rather than who visited the most pages.

Usually a full day
Reporting

Reports that agree with each other

The most common problem I see: marketing's dashboard and the sales director's numbers disagree, so nobody trusts either. It's almost never the reports themselves — it's what's being counted underneath them.

Half day
Automation

What your automation is doing

What's running, what's fighting with what, and what's been quietly emailing people for two years. Almost every account has automation nobody remembers switching on.

Half day
Team

Training your team

A working session in your own account with your own data, rather than a generic course. People learn it far faster when the examples are their own customers.

Half or full day
How a session runs

Four stages, and none of them is a slide deck.

01

Before

You send me a read-only login along with a short note on what's actually bothering you, and I'll have a proper look through beforehand so that I'm not arriving cold and spending your first hour orienting myself.

2–3 days ahead
02

The session

Screen shared, in your own account, working through real examples rather than hypothetical ones, and anything that can sensibly be fixed while we're on the call gets fixed while we're on the call.

Half or full day
03

The write-up

You get a written summary covering what we went through and what I changed and what to do next and in what order, written in plain English without any diagrams in it.

Within 48 hours
04

After

There's one follow-up call included within the month, for the questions that only surface once your team has started using whatever we changed.

Boundaries

What you get

  • Direct access to me for the whole session, no juniors
  • Changes made live where they're safe to make
  • A written follow-up you can forward to your boss
  • An honest ranking of what to fix first and what to ignore
  • One follow-up call within 30 days

What it isn't

  • A retainer. Book a session when you need one; there's nothing to cancel afterwards.
  • Implementation. If the session identifies a build, I'll quote it separately as project work — and you're free to give it to someone else.
  • A generic HubSpot training course. It's your account, your data, your problems.
  • A sixty-slide audit document. You get a page or two of what to do, not a deck to file.
Questions

Before you book.

Half day or full day — which do I need?

Half a day tends to suit one defined problem, so reports that don't match each other, or automation nobody in the building understands, or a specific decision you've got stuck on. A full day suits anything that touches how your data is organised, because those conversations always turn up more than anybody expected going in. If you're not sure then book half and we'll extend it if it needs extending.

Do you work on site?

Remote by default, mostly because screen sharing is genuinely better for this sort of work than sitting in a room together. I'll come on site in the South East for full-day sessions where the team needs to be in one place, and travel is charged at cost beyond about forty miles of home.

What access do you need?

A read-only login is ideal beforehand, upgraded during the session itself if you want changes made there and then. I'll work within whatever your IT policy allows, and all that really changes is how much I can do live versus how much I write down for your team to do afterwards.

Can we book several sessions?

Yes, and plenty of people do, usually a full day up front and then a half day a month or two later once the changes have bedded in. Each one is booked and paid for separately, and there's no discount for committing in advance, because I'd rather you booked the second one on the grounds that the first was worth it.

Are you going to try to sell me a retainer?

No, this is sold by the session and that's the whole of it. If a session turns up work that needs building then I'll quote it as a fixed price, and you're entirely free to take that quote to somebody else.

Bring me the awkward one.

The problem nobody in the team can quite agree on, or the number that's never matched the one sales are looking at, because those are the sessions that actually earn their money.
